For Businesses
Other programs provide solutions for businesses to enhance their energy efficiency and include:
- The Metasys® Sustainability Manager: A software program that, when combined with Johnson Controls’ Metasys building management system, allows facility managers greater and more secure connection to information technology applications.
- PWI Energy: A comprehensive energy management program that incorporates an industry-leading platform to help global organizations measure, manage and reduce their energy costs and overall greenhouse gas footprint.
- IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Energy Management: A software program that works with the Metasys building management system to make data centers and facilities more energy-efficient and sustainable.
Johnson Controls also recently unveiled a proprietary renewable roofing system that will be used in several projects in Wisconsin, California and Washington. The Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) roofing system uses a durable, low-maintenance, waterproof membrane that incorporates lightweight thin-film photographic cells. This technology uses clean, renewable energy to generate electricity while helping lower overall energy costs.
One of the three projects is Johnson Controls’ global headquarters building in Glendale, Wisconsin. The BIPV roofing project at this facility is expected to produce 116,000 kilowatts annually. The projects in each of the three states include a 20-year roof and photovoltaic warranty.
These and other programs like them underscore national trends identified by Johnson Controls. According to The Johnson Controls Energy Efficiency Indicator, the company’s annual survey of North American executives, 52 percent of respondents said environmental responsibility is an equal or greater motivator for investing in energy efficiency than cost reduction.
