Johnson Controls Turns World’s Largest Music Festival Green

Summerfest 2008 As the global leader in creating smart environments and making the places where people work, live and travel more sustainable, Johnson Controls starts by making a difference in its corporate home town of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, US.
For nearly 40 years, Milwaukee has been the location of the world’s largest music festival: Summerfest. This year, Johnson Controls is proud to sponsor a sustainability and energy-efficiency awareness campaign to encourage the 800,000 festival-goers to think - and act - green.

Free parking for hybrid vehicles

Highlights of the green campaign include Johnson Controls-sponsored parking spaces for hybrid vehicles. Available between Thursday, June 26 and Sunday, June 29, these FREE spaces are located at 630 E. Buffalo Street, a short walk from the festival’s entrance. The hybrid parking sponsorship is a tangible extension of the company’s global leadership in sustainable vehicle innovations, including hybrid vehicle battery technology and environmentally friendly automotive interiors. Johnson Controls is a leading independent provider of hybrid battery systems that make vehicles more energy efficient.

Festival attendees stomp out hunger

Celebrating ICE in Summer

Recognizing and encouraging ingenuity in students is the cornerstone of the Igniting Creative Energy Challenge (ICE), now in its 7th year. The Challenge, a partnership program developed by Johnson Controls and the National Energy Foundation, is a competition that encourages students K-12 to develop ingenious ways to live a more sustainable life and protect the environment, and asks them to submit projects that demonstrate ways of practicing sustainability at home, at school, or in the community. On Sunday, June 29 at 3:30 p.m., the company will host an awards presentation for local and regional winners of the national ICE program on the Summerfest Children’s Stage.

Johnson Controls volunteers fuel the activities

More than 75 Johnson Controls employees are supporting the company’s Summerfest sustainability and energy-efficiency awareness campaign. These essential volunteers will collect food donations, hand out free tickets, manage car parking, celebrate ICE winners and help communicate Johnson Controls’ commitment to sustainability throughout the weekend.
